A Smart Card was issued to all students who live in the residence halls this semester to help them deal with college life.
Students can use the card to enter dormitories, buy food from the cafeteria, vending machines and bookstore and do laundry.
For purchases, the card must have money behind it, like a debit card. Students may put money in their Smart Card account between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Bursar’s Office. They are free to decide how much money they want on their card.
Edwin Arocho: “The Smart Card is very convenient. But sometimes it is hard when you have to do laundry. Running out of money on your Smart Card on the weekend when the Bursar’s Office is closed is a hassle. The laundry machines only take the Smart Card. It would be nice if they had some laundry machines that took quarters, just in case.”
Stephen Campbell: “I got a Smart Card over the summer, and it didn’t work. But my new one works real well.”
Ashley Ladue: “The Smart Card is very easy to use, and you can use it just about anywhere on campus.”
Ben Howitt: “I used my Smart Card to buy my books in the bookstore. It was very helpful and easy.”
Danielle VanSteenburg: “The Smart Card is very convenient for me.”
Megan Curtiss: “I use my Smart Card to buy food out of the vending machines and at the Starbucks here on campus.”
